The 'renewable' energy transition that the Netherlands has recently embarked on is astronomically expensive, will not save the world and will harm our prosperity, security and well-being. That is one of the central statements of the climate-critical science journalist Arnout Jaspers, author of 'De Stikstoffuik'. On Wednesday, September 4, Clintel gives him the opportunity to give his view on the sense and especially the nonsense of the energy transition.

He recently wrote the book 'The Climate Optimist' about this. “Unfortunately, the current cabinet largely continues the errors of the Rutte cabinet, and does not clearly distance itself from typical Jetten obsessions such as wanting to be a climate leader, 100% 'renewable' energy and net zero in 2050.”

Arnout Jaspers (1958) studied physics in Leiden, published as a science journalist in NRC Handelsblad and de Volkskrant, among others, and is a columnist for Wynia's Week.
